About Kūlana Hawai‘i. Kūlana Hawai‘i is an evidence-based behavioral health
intervention for obesity management that is culturally-minded and tailored to
Hawai‘i's culture and lifestyle. I Ola Lāhui has assembled a team of psychologists
and other allied health professionals to deliver a weight management and
lifestyle modification program that is individually tailored and designed to
provide motivational support, nutritional counseling, education, support for
lifestyle change, and physical activity all in one program. The project is funded
through the Office of Hawaiian Affairs and HMSA.
LEAD RESEARCH ASSISTANT’S ROLE:
You’ll assist with data collection, as well as database management as part of
tracking the outcomes of the project. Data collection may involve collecting and
organizing data from program forms and questionnaires. Data base management
may involve entering data, tracking appointments, and organizing the database.
Greeting, checking in, and scheduling program participants may also be included
in your job responsibilities.

weight management program, and organizing and managing a database. You’ll
also improve your ability to think critically, solve problems, gain experience
with the use of culturally minded approaches for weight management, and
work with a team of licensed psychologists who also lead an APA accredited
psychology internship program. This type of experience can better prepare you for
your future goals, such as attending graduate programs.
The lead research assistant will be asked to contribute 19-32 hours per week to
this program, based upon availability. You will be paid $8.50-10 an hour
commensurate with your previous experience and/or educational level. Flexible
and fixed hours are available.
